In 2019 we initiated and launched The out of the shadows index, a tool that benchmarks how 60 countries are preventing and responding to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
In the US we put a yearly spotlight on state action—and inaction— to address child sexual exploitation with the United States Out of the Shadow index. This critical research help to guide interventions to keep children safe.
Over the years, we have – together with the Swedish Mission to the UN – co-hosted multiple events at the United Nations in New York. We’ve gathered world leaders and experts to spur governments, academia, civil society, and the private sector to join forces to scale up investment in solutions that target the wellbeing of children. For instance, the 2023 meeting focused on children’s safety in relation to travel and tourism.
